Do you regularly inspect your home for signs of termite infestation? Termites cause billions of dollars in damage to homes and those damages are not covered by your homeowners’ insurance policy. Preventive Pest Control has Houston termite treatment schedules that are designed to help prevent termite damage from happening or eliminate the colony if your home is already infested.
WHY YOU NEED TERMITE PEST CONTROL SERVICES
At Preventive Pest Control we recommend that you let us inspect your home for termites so we can determine if you already have a termite infestation and design a proper treatment plan based on the type of termite destroying your home. Our Sentricon® System is scientifically designed to eliminate the entire subterranean termite colony. It can also be installed to prevent termites from ever attacking your home.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT TERMITE INFESTATIONS
When termites go out in search of food and a place to build a colony, they typically look for anywhere that contains a sufficient amount of moisture and a source of food that contains cellulose. Most important to termites is a place of sufficient moisture as their bodies will dry out without a humid place in which to live. Their food source can usually be found in wood, paper, cardboard, carpet and even in certain clothes.
Formosan Subterranean Termite – The “Super” Termite
This termite was nicknamed the “super termite” due to its large colonies and destructive habits of consuming a large amount of wood in a short amount of time. Just one colony can contain up to several million termites that forage an area of soil up to 300 feet. A mature Formosan colony can consume an average of 13 ounces of wood per day, so infestations can cause severe wood damage to structures. Once these colonies are established, Formosan subterranean termites have never been eradicated from an area without the help of professional termite pest control services.
Common signs of termites include:
- Mud Tubes
- Discarded Wings
- Wood Damage
