WHY GET ANT PEST CONTROL?

There are roughly 250 species of ants native to Houston, Texas but only a few can cause problems for your everyday life should they choose to make a home where you live or work. You may see one ant and think its presence is not a big deal. Then a day or two goes by and there’s an entire line of ants following the same path as the ant you saw the day before. Because ants are social insects, they work in organized patterns to gather information using a tracking and communication mechanism through the use of pheromones. Finding where they are coming from can be tricky and locating their nests can be even more challenging. That’s why ant pest control is necessary in order to be ant free.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ANTS?

The goals of most ants normally don’t involve destroying a person’s home, although they will cause a heap of trouble if they are ants that bite or build a nest right inside your house or office. Most ants enter a home in search of food. The reason ants continue to come back is usually because the “leader” ant collected information (evidence of food) and then lead the other ants at the nest to the source of food.

THE ANTS YOU SHOULD WORRY ABOUT IN
HOUSTON ARE THE FOLLOWING:

Household ants

These ants are attracted to electrical equipment. They invade homes and cause damages to electric breakers and also cause shortages in electric breakers.

FIRE ants

These ants bite to latch onto the skin and then sting from the abdomen by injecting a toxic venom called Solenopsin leaving sores. The fire ant bite sores itch, swell, and cause pus-filled blisters. In some severe cases of fire ant attacks, allergic reactions resulted in a trip to the emergency room.

CRAZY ANTS

These are smaller than fire ants and they also bite when they attack, although these bites do not sting. A big issue with crazy ants is that they invade homes and businesses in swarms at a time and are very difficult to get rid of them.
